Help & USB setup

From your first preview to playing a show on your vehicle.

Create your first show

Sign in, open Create Show, and upload music you are authorized to use, choose a demo, or import an existing FSEQ. Uploads support MP3, WAV, and DRM-free M4A/AAC, up to 80 MB and six minutes.

Each generation is a full song and uses one credit. Importing an existing sequence or opening a supplied prebuilt demo does not use generation credits. Failed generations return reserved credits. See your balance in Account.

Check the displayed vehicle profile. The current standard export uses the 2020–2024 Model Y profile. Other exports, when offered, are experimental. File validation checks structure and limits; it does not certify physical vehicle behavior.

Preview and edit

Use Play and the timeline to check timing. Switch between vehicle views to inspect the lights. On smaller screens, expand Show map or Light mix when needed.

Click an event to select it, drag it to move it, or change its numeric settings. Delete removes the selected event. Undo and Redo remain available after autosave during the current editing session. Wait for Saved before leaving.

Regenerate creates a new version using your settings and costs the amount shown on the button. Export saves pending edits before preparing your package.

Set up your USB drive

  1. Choose Export show, then Download ZIP. Extract the ZIP on your computer.
  2. Copy the LightShow folder to the drive’s root. Inside it, the FSEQ and WAV or MP3 must share a filename before the extension. For a sequence-only download, add your own lawful copy of the exact matching recording.
  3. Use a compatible drive format such as exFAT or FAT32. NTFS is unsupported. Keep TeslaCam and update files off this drive. Back up existing files before any formatting.
  4. Insert the drive into a data-capable vehicle USB port. In Toybox, open Light Show, select Schedule Show, and choose your custom show. Follow the instructions on the vehicle.

See Tesla’s current USB guide for vehicle and software requirements. Use shows only while parked in a safe, permitted area; allow clearance for any enabled moving parts and consider photosensitive viewers.

Troubleshooting

The download did not start

Check browser downloads and allow downloads for this site. Choose Export show again to refresh an expired link. Your editor stays open while the ZIP downloads separately.

My vehicle does not list the show

Check the drive format, data-capable port, exact LightShow folder spelling, and matching audio/FSEQ names. Copy the extracted folder, not the ZIP itself. Refer to the vehicle’s displayed error and Tesla’s guide above.

Playback is silent or out of sync

Check browser sound and volume. Some marketplace previews are intentionally silent. For imported sequences, use the exact recording and starting point used by its creator. If a project says audio stays local, reconnect the original file in the same browser.

Generation or sign-in failed

Read the displayed error, check your connection, and retry. Sign-in preserves selected settings; browsers require you to select local files again. Never upload a streaming-service download protected by DRM. For repeated failures, contact us with the project URL and error message.
